Crazy, Stupid, Love. (2011)
Movie Info
When the middle-aged Cal Weaver (Steve Carell) finds out his adulterous wife wants a divorce. Weaver quickly finds himself re-discovering his manhood by listening to Jacob (Ryan Gosling), a man who lives his life sleeping with a different girl every night. Throughout the movie, the viewer is taken through a complex but rather interesting set of relationships, that by the end all seem to be interconnected. But probably the most interesting relationship, is the one between Carell and Gosling. Sure, a middle aged man seeking dating advice from a womanizer is interesting in itself, but there's more to their relationship. By the end of the film one learns that Jacob has fallen for Cal's daughter, thus making the two related even more. When watching this movie I couldn't help but sit on the edge of my seat. Mostly in part because of how each of the different relationships interconnect, but also because of the way that they are. Especially when Cal and his wife are at their son's parent teacher conference. On a final note, the romantics and relationships aren't very deep. But this movie is a must see, just because of the comedy of how each relationships connects to the others. |
